Monday Poetry

This morning we talked about the destruction of Vanuatu with cyclone Pam and looked at a storm poem written by one of Ms Saxon's previous students.
Mr Callaghan and Mrs May observed our session and were blown away by the quality of our writing. And so many of us felt that we had done the best writing we had ever done!
Check some of it out...

Ben
Silence fills the air
Dark clouds covering the earth
Hiding the sky.

A thief takes the stage
Wiping out everything in its path
Like a non-stop train, out of control.

His evil laugh drifts away
Leaving carnage.

Emma
As the wind screams up my back
I watch the darkness cover the land
With sadness spreading over the people's faces
The sun disappears as the darkness returns.

As the rumbling becomes louder
Fear surrounds the helpless village
Homeless shadow in the distance
Only debris left throughout the land.

Isabella
 Silence blankets the land
Awaiting his arrival
The wind carries a message of warning
Preparing for the battle.

Darkness falls upon the weak
Leaving the strong hearted
They arm their weapons
With the fear of death in the back of their minds
The warriors attack
And so does he.

His lightning fingers destroy anything in its path
Leaving a track of debris behind
As a powerful force emerges from the darkness
He fades away.

Braeden
Sadness spreads over their faces
Rugged buildings falling down
Into the rubble
Thunder booming up in the black sky
Making a frightening noise
Purple lightning burst down at me
Trying to get me.

The waves threw water at the buildings
The darkness fades away with the sun taking over
Children see a rainbow forming.

Ruffled
Mya
The lonely blackness
Peacefully layers the earth
Sweeping along, horrifying us
Making us go.

Incessant seething clouds
Obliterating our homes
Fear glints in our eyes
We can see safety
Forming in the distance.

Finally terrorising sky calms
While the sun's waking up
Now freedom at last, everything lost, but safe
Tingling toes, we find a door.

Isaac
As the ocean calms
The sky grows black
A gust of wind comes in
People hide from the incoming villain.

Suddenly the ocean bursts into rage
The waves smash against the rocks
Thunder crashes down, boom, as the villain obliterates the village
Houses are collapsing, turning to rubble.

People pleading for the storm to go
As the storm shrinks
The people come out
To see what the storm has done
To the island...

Georgia
A blanket of darkness
Emerged from a restless sleep
Swallowing up a body of land
Taking over.

Fury looming out of the window
Putrid and rotten
Lightning fingers
Taking you to a grave of thunder.

But the revenge of anger starts to collapse
And the sun succeeds to shine
Through clouded visions.

Toby
Slowly creeping in
As he howls in rage
His dark body covers the land.

Lightning bursting from the dark sky
As it strikes and hits the building
As it crumbles down into pieces.

His thrashing fury fades
There's a pathway to light
The villain gets caught
And finally runs away.

Eden
Booming
Raging with fury
Darkness creeping over them.

Fast destruction
Raging through lands
Of the Pacific
Villages torn apart.

Beaches with bottles, fish and skies
Many boats
Are on the beach.

True Terror
Leo
Darkness brimming
And seething with rage
A new enemy beginning to form.

Fists of fear clutching the inhabitants
Swirling, twisting, writhing, smashing
Destroying all remains of civilization
Wrecked signs of fragile houses and limp bodies.

The Lonely Hour
Cara
As I watch a grey blanket hovers over me
Fear overcomes me
I run home
To find safety.

Howling wind rushes through the land
Tears apart houses
When something howls onto me
And throws me with great fury.

While I watch people search for their families
The grey blanket fades away
When all I can hear are people
Devastated.

Sam
The storm starts seething
Clouds emerge from the hills
Burying the village in darkness.

I hear gusts of wind hit my house
I take cover inside
Thunder bellows scaring everyone.

Lightning strikes a tree
Setting it alight
Burning it to the ground.

The sun shoots beams of light
Through the clouds
The storm fades away.

Fritha
Silence spreads over the land
Only to hear
A solitary bird
Swooping in the blue clearing.

Gusts of wind
Come and go
Seeping into my spine.

Grey mist hovers
Upon the surfface
Blocking the sun
And her rays.

Light flashes in rage
The earth shakes with fear
Puddles grown larger and larger
Flooding the village.

The light
Backfires
And reaches the heart
Of the innocent sun.

She clears the sky
And unburdens
The brightness
Of a pathway to happiness.

Lucky
Annika

A villain creeps over
Covering the blueness up above
Boom
It starts to happen.

Lightning shattering the sky
As a blanket of black slides over the ground
Debris ascending up to the grey
Screaming shouting
Scared to move.

A crying sound with a whine
A baby has been born
With the name of Lucky
Lucky to be alive.

Last Hope
Lucia
Descending through
A blanket of calm and horrors
With one hope of light.

A rumble of threat
Crunching down
Spirit
Hope
A strike
Of terrifying sight
As life disappears
Through darkness.

Beating stops
As the treacherous sight
Fades through the air
And waking from anger
The colony of clouds tiptoe away
And all that is left
Is the streaming sun
And one last hope.

Stella
Twisting and turning it descends
A seething villain sucks in fresh air
And blasts out strikes of electrifying light
Following by a bellowing scream.

People fleeing
Dodging flying trees and roofs
Blood curdling screams fill the putrid air.

As the dragon is defeated
And hurls off into the night.
