Warriors of Winter

Check out our powerful poems on our first day back...

The Winter Warrior
Dom

The snow coalesses
A shimmering sword
Tackles the land
To be faced by warmth.

They battled, trees bare
Fields to a frost bog
Waters frozen
He is strong.

He grips her, freezing
Their swords clash
Shattering the ice
He is weakening.

He blunders drunkenly
Slowly ... melting ... away
A sword protruding from his back
As white liquid oozes between his fingers
He crumples to the ground.

The Thieving Winter
Stella

The thieving winter
Her skin shimmering in the early morn
From field to hilltop, she takes crops and stock
Her weapon of destruction glistening with dry blood.

She sharpens her weapon, for she has one more enemy to defeat
Waiting in a clearing is her rival,
Her weapon already drawn, bursting,
They fight.

Wailing silently, winter lies upon the ground
Spring has defeated her rival.

Sam

Winter creeps out from behind the tree
She pulls up her icy hood
Blocking out the sun
She draws a spear from her cloak
She turns towards the bushes.

A bright figure emerges
Drawing a sword from his sheath
They charge towards each other
Their weapons collide
A hiss is heard across the land.

Her spear disintegrates into a cloud of steam
As soon as his sword touches it
Knocking her back into the tree
He swings his sword at her neck
Decapitating her and cutting down the tree.

The Warrior of Winter
Emma

A shadow emerges out of nothingness
The time has come
He has met his enemy
As he trudges past houses
Frost covers the land.

Flames flicker in her eyes
As her bloody orange hair
Covers her face
Everything melts
As she strides through the city.

He draws his sword
To her heart
But it misses
She shoots her arrow at winter
He falls.

The Winter Warrior
Finn

The crisp winter breeze chilled his hunched back
He slinks between fallen branches
There she was
Her glowing silhouette just visible through the misty fog
He shuddered at the sight of her.

The sun's head snapped in his direction
Her alert eyes darted towards him
She began to charge
He dared a backward glance
He felt her overpowering warmth
His weathered knees thumped into the snow.

Hanging his head, sun took her chance
She thrust her flame into winter's back
His hopeless body fell ... defeated.

Isabella P

A solitary warrior stands
Watching over the frost horizon
Readying his blade
Awaiting her arrival.

He feels a sudden warmth
Turning to confront the glowing mistress
Her eyes blaze with rage
He strikes
Only to see the ghost of his mighty weapon.

She swiftly fires her flaming arrow
Piercing his spine
He lets out a screech of pain.

Finley

The winter warrior has taken over
Everything in his sight
His misty cape billowing behind him
With a sword held strongly by his waist.

Suddenly a blast of light
Hits his enemy from behind
With great speed he turns
To see his enemy, and there she is.

Her warm beams glow in the darkness
With great courage he charges at his enemy
He tries to swipe, but his sword is useless
Suddenly she pulls out her weapon.

Without mercy she stabs her cold-blooded enemy
Letting out a bloody curdling scream
He cannot win, so he surrenders
As he watches his body turn into water.

The Warrior of Winter
Grace

He tramples through the frost
His misty cape billowing in the wind
To escape from her, the enemy.

He met the enemy
Beams eddying out of her
Burning fingers reach out, to grab
He draws his sword
And approaches the menace.

Steam rises to reveal a melted weapon
Winter blunders away from her
She pierces him with a glittering spear
A blood-curdling scream echoes across the land
Exposing silence.

The Warrior of Winter
Annabel

He emerges out of nowhere
His sword held with pride
Leaving traces of frost
Ready to strike.

Stalking his enemy
She turns
Her flaming eyes glare angrily
He is ready to strike.

Her flaming hands reach out to melt his weapon
He flees, weapon-less
Her beams shoot out to reach winter
He is now melted.

Winter Warrior
Mya

A shadowy figure
Makes its way to confront her witness
Her importance wraps around her like a shimmering robe
She draws her weapon, ready to take aim
Dancing beams twirl around her
She's here
Winter is the star.

Darting her deadly glows
Winter takes aim
She lunges at the star
Weapon out in front of her
But she melts, lying in a puddles
Destroyed.

Winter shudders
Her life hanging on a thread
Star dresses her wounds, before disappearing
Leaving winter alone.

Dilkee

Misty in the dark, he emerges
His cape billows behind him
He raises his sword in victory
Searching for revenge
As he mischievously stalks his enemy.

A shadowy figure makes its way
To confront her witness
He draws his sword to attack and misses
Meanwhile she took her bow and shoots
A glowing arrow hits his frozen skin.

He melts
Lying in his kingdom
He is destroyed.

 Jessica F

Emerging out of nothing
Winter starts to rise
His frosted figure slinks through the fog
To confront his enemy.

Flames flicker in her eyes
As he draws a frozen sword
To strike.

His power weakens
As the sword shatters
She draws a flaming arrow.

Winter turns to flee as an arrow pierces his frozen skin
The warmth retreats as winter seeps into the thawing land.

The Warrior of Winter
Duncan

His glistening sword emerges, shimmering
His foreign voice bellows and scares summer away
He hears a branch break, something is near
The sun's beams glow in the misty fog
He readies his sword.

He turns to face his enemy
Her glowing eyes stare
He strikes
He misses, his sword hits the ground and shatters
A fiery whip wraps around his leg
He falls to his knees.

A harrowing sword screams through his chest
He lays on the ground, helpless
Sun stands by him, guarding
Til his time comes again.

The Battle
Rebecca

He emerges out of the mist
His glistening cape draping across the ground
Freezing the pathway below
His icicles held by his side
Waiting to strike...

His enemy looming over him
Creating a shadow of warmth from her beams
A spotlight shimmering on him
Stalking him...

He has had enough, it is time to confront
Forcing the battle to start
Drawing his sword to strike
Suddenly a flaming fireball comes shooting towards him.

That was it, the battle is over
The sun has won.

Emily

He tramples through  a tranquil forest
Gazing at his enemy,
Pleading for revenge without fear.

His enemy emerges
Revealing her fiery sword
His icy sword disappears
Making her unstoppable
As she destroys him.
