98 Strong Street had a great time visiting Rehua Marae. After a short bus trip we arrived to be welcomed by a traditional powhiri. The students we respectful and even gave a hongi a go. Super work everyone!
We had lunch, followed by an informative tour around the outside of the marae. You can see us in the photos below pretending we are like the wharenui- which is like a woman, standing like we are. The amazing kowhaiwhai patterns and tukutuku panels inside the wharenui were shown to us and we learnt about the chief on the top of the wharenui.
We managed to dodge most of the wet weather and finish off with poi and some rakau songs.
Thank you to all our parents that helped on the trip.

Marae Trip
Just a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday 19, is our marae trip. Please remember to have a packed lunch, water bottle, sun hat (fingers crossed for some nice weather), a rain coat just in case, plus your school bag to carry it all in.
Have an extra practise of the waiata tonight tamariki.

Notices home today
Just to let parents know that the Zone Swimming notices came home today, for Wednesday's events.
Also sent home were the marae trip parent help forms. Thank you to the parents who offered to help, we need you all (6). Please meet us on Thursday, 11 am outside the dental clinic to travel with us on the bus. Women need to wear a suitable length skirt for this occasion. Thanks!

Marae Trip
Photos
We have been doing some wonderful art with the amazing Miss Rowe and Miss Rait. Some are called micrography where we turn words into an image of ourselves. Please come in and check some of these out. Ms Saxon loves coming in on a Monday morning to see even more art displayed in our learning spaces!
